Destruction, Death, & Decay | Colored Pencil Series

This was one of my final projects for my Intermediate Drawing Course. The class was tasked to create a series of illustrations that have a central theme throughout either in composition or in meaning.

I decided to keep a central composition and show the decomposition of a fallen knight and how the world changes around this knight's death. Showing the fiery destruction that caused his impalement to a tree, the death caused by that destruction and the weeping of those involved through the rain, finally from death comes decay, as the sword is able to fall from the Knight's chest as a symbolic rebirth takes place.
